The Sunday Six: Small upgrades that change a room
3rd May 2026
The Sunday Six is our weekly edit of what feels relevant, chic or quietly useful. Each week Charlotte or Ginny will share objects, habits and small upgrades that feel worth your attention before Monday arrives.
The Sunday Six on Ginny: The Interior Edit

There’s a point in the season where your home doesn’t need redoing, it just needs refining.
A few small changes that make everything feel more considered and more intentional. This week’s Sunday Six is about those pieces.
1. Layered lighting
If there’s one thing that instantly elevates a room, it’s this.
Not overhead lighting, but the softer, more considered kind. Lamps, sconces, under-joinery lighting, a subtle glow layered throughout the space.
It’s what changes how a room feels in the evening.
Most homes rely too heavily on ceiling lights. The difference when you don’t is immediate, everything feels warmer, calmer, and far more intentional.

2. A tray that anchors a surface
It sounds simple, but it’s one of the easiest ways to make a space feel styled.
On a coffee table, bedside or console, a tray creates structure. It gives everything a place to sit, rather than feeling like it’s just been placed there.
Think of it as the starting point, not the afterthought. I have used this faux shagreen tray in both light and dark colour ways in several of our projects.

3. A stylish throw (under £30)
Not overly styled, not too perfect, just something that feels soft, relaxed and slightly undone.
It adds warmth without trying too hard, and is often what makes a space feel lived in rather than staged.
This one is such good value and looks far more elevated than it should. I have it draped at the end of my bed.

4. A beautiful rechargeable lamp
This is one of those small upgrades that instantly makes a room feel more considered.
On a shelf, it breaks up the flatness of books and objects and brings everything to life in the evening.
It adds a soft, low-level glow exactly where you wouldn’t normally have lighting, which is what creates that layered, almost effortless feel you see in really well-designed spaces. I’m obsessed with this marble lamp from L&L.

5. One really good candle
There’s always a moment at the end of the day where lighting a candle shifts everything slightly. Scent is the invisible layer that makes a home feel finished, but it’s also visual.
A larger candle works like a styling object, something that anchors a coffee table or console, rather than getting lost amongst everything else.
I love 34, the fragrance is warm and layered, a little woody, slightly spicy and the kind of scent that feels calm and familiar without being overpowering.
It feels more considered, more intentional and it smells divine.

6. Something natural (even if it isn’t)
Branches, florals, or something with a softer, organic shape.
It’s what stops a room from feeling too structured or flat. Even a well-done faux arrangement can do this if it’s styled properly.
It brings a bit of movement into a space, which is often what’s missing.
This gorgeous display is made to order from Sixty3 Styled.

Simple, considered and easy to add.
If you enjoyed this, do follow along for more. I share these every other week, alongside interiors, styling and everyday inspiration.
See you in two weeks.
