The Sunday Six: what’s relevant and Chic this week

The Sunday Six is our weekly edit of what feels relevant, chic or quietly useful. Each week Charlotte or Ginny will share objects, habits and small upgrades that feel worth your attention before Monday arrives.

The Sunday Six on Building The Moodboard

There is a very particular type of Sunday mood I aspire to. It involves a kitchen rest, something slightly salty in a small metal bowl and no urgency.

This week’s Sunday Six are more “add to life” and less less “add to basket”. Some are objects, some are habits and all are chic in their own way.

1. Stainless Steel Is Back (in a big way)
   In case you haven’t yet heard, polished stainless steel is creeping back in a major way, It’s giving 1970s cocktail bar energy and I’m very into it. The triple serving bowl is just £14.99 and looks like it belongs in a stylish Milan apartment. Put crisps, nuts and pickles in it and it has a certain non so che. You can’t explain it, but you know it works. The tall coupe at £9.99 pair with olives, ice cream or one dramatic lemon and a side of crepes. Metal works best if everything else is soft. A linen tablecloth or placemats and napkins on a timber table. Add candlelight for extra softness. Done.
2. A Pepper Mill That Means Business
   The mink bobbin lacquer mill is the most versatile and perfect colour. You might not need a lacquered pepper mill but it is the chic sort of dining or kitchen accessory everyone notices. It’s sculptural and feels weighty. It sits on marble worktops like it was born to be there and I personally like to think of any accessory that is out on display in my home, a bit like a handbag, in theory they are practical but IRL they’re not (just).
3. Gym Equipment That Doesn’t Offend the Eye
   If it lives in your house, it should fit the aesthetic.There is no denying that these oak and steel dumbbells are decorative. They’re giving Giobagnara vibes but with a starting price of £35.99, this little slice of home gym luxury comes without the hefty price tag. I would happily leave them on open shelving. The leather medicine ball looks like something you’d find in an interior designed home gym and spa. And the soft neutral ankle weights I’ve even been walking round all day with them on long after my morning workout is over, I’m not proud, but it all counts.
4. The 8.30pm Rule
   This year I’ve stopped telling myself that scrolling is relaxing, I was on my phone so much I actually got a repetitive strain in my right hand. So now at 8.30pm, my phone goes onto airplane mode. It’s less about productivity and more about not feeling mentally exhausted before Monday has even begun.
5. The Monday Morning Power Move
   Block the first hour of Monday on a recurring diary invite before anyone else does. No Zoom calls or quick catch ups, Monday mornings are for planning the week ahead and prioritising my non negotiables. It feels indulgent until you realise it changes the entire outcome of the week ahead.
6. Editing Is the Real Luxury
   This week I killed two product ideas. Both would have sold well but were too trend led and would have potentially diluted our brand. Don’t forget that luxury is not adding more, it’s having the nerve to say no faster. That applies to interiors, wardrobe choices, collaborations and arrangements in your diary.
