The Sunday Six : Six little things making summer that bit lovelier
28th June 2026
The Sunday Six is our weekly edit of what feels relevant, chic or quietly useful. Each week Charlotte or Ginny will share objects, habits and small upgrades that feel worth your attention before Monday arrives.
The Sunday Six on Ginny: The Interior Edit

Summer always feels like a season of slowing down… although with two young children, slowing down often just means eating dinner in the garden, enjoying an evening outside or finding little moments of calm in between the chaos!
This week’s Sunday Six is a collection of things I’ve been genuinely enjoying lately. Nothing revolutionary, just six little favourites that are making summer a little easier, a little prettier and a lot more enjoyable.
If you’re anything like me and seem to attract every mosquito within a five-mile radius, this might just become your new summer essential. Unlike most insect repellents, Mrs White’s Unstung Hero smells absolutely beautiful. The fresh lemon tea fragrance reminds me of long summer lunches and warm evenings rather than the usual medicinal smell we’ve all come to expect. It has earned a permanent place in my life this summer and comes everywhere with me, from evenings in the garden to holidays abroad. It genuinely works, and I never thought I’d describe an insect repellent as a pleasure to use, but this one really is.

This has been one of those unexpected purchases that I now couldn’t be without. Whether I’m on a warm train, visiting an RHS garden, spending an afternoon on site or simply sitting outside with friends, it’s made those hot summer days so much more comfortable. It’s lightweight, rechargeable and lives permanently in my handbag, it doesn’t need regular charging which is a huge plus (I think I only charged it once last summer). Such a simple little gadget, but one I’ve reached for countless times already this summer.

I don’t spend hours chasing a tan these days, but I do love having a little healthy colour during the summer months. I’ve been using Gatineau’s Golden Glow Gradual Tan for years and love how natural it looks. It gives just enough warmth to make legs feel ready for dresses and sandals without looking streaky or obviously fake. One of those products I come back to year after year, it’s non toxic and there is no biscuit smell or transfer!

4. Diptyque Citronnelle Candle
As soon as we start eating outside, this candle makes an appearance. Not only does it help keep insects away, it fills the garden with the most beautiful fragrance and somehow makes even a simple supper on the patio feel that little bit more special. Lighting it has become one of my favourite little summer rituals.

5. My 6am workouts
If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be setting my alarm for 6am to exercise, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you. But those early mornings have become one of the best habits I’ve built this year. Before the nursery run, before emails and before the day properly begins, I get an hour that’s completely my own. As a mum of two and running a business, finding that time later simply isn’t realistic, so I’ve learned to protect it first thing instead. I don’t always wake up feeling enthusiastic, but I’ve never once regretted doing it.

6. A Little Reminder
Summer doesn’t have to be filled with expensive holidays or perfectly planned days to feel memorable. Some of my favourite moments are the simplest ones: coffee in the garden before everyone wakes up, fresh flowers on the kitchen table, eating outside because the weather allows it, or hearing the children playing in the garden on a warm evening. Those are the moments I know I’ll remember long after summer has gone.

I’d love to know…
What’s one little thing you’re loving this summer? Perhaps it’s something you’ve discovered, a favourite recipe, a beauty product, a garden find or simply a small ritual that’s making this season a little sweeter.
